The Post I Never Thought I’d Write

by | Sep 18, 2015

I spent way too long deciding what to name this post. The moment my childhood dreams came true, the holy baloney is this even happening or just I’ve got something to tell you teaser.

But I thought I’d leave all the suspense and just come out with it. Cue fast paced finger drumming on the table…

I’ve signed a three book deal with Carina publishers, an imprint of Harper Collins!!!

Yes those exclamation marks are so justified as I can’t convey just how squealy, excitable and unreal this still seems.

I told you know that I’d finished my first novel here, how my mentor Rosie Blake from the ace Womentoring project has been in the background shaking her pom poms cheering me on to type ‘the end’, and how I’d been tinkering with my writing that contains so much blood, sweat and tears during this writers retreat.

I’m not going to lie and say writing the first novel was easy, constantly filled with fun and laughter. It wasn’t. There were times I felt exhausted, tearful and anxiety ridden not just for fear of whether people will like what I’ve wrote (I don’t think that terror will ever go away) but because I had to delve deep into emotions and thoughts I’d pushed down inside for so long. It was truly cathartic and you know what, probably what I needed to do to come out the other side. But because of this, I’m confident that I’ve done my very best in explaining the feelings of going from what the hell do I do now to I can totally conquer the world.

Diving into my characters heads, reliving certain moments from my own travel experiences and building plots that will (hopefully) leave you wanting more has been one of the toughest but most rewarding things I’ve ever done. The buzz I get from nailing a scene, writing true to life dialogue or just laughing at my own jokes is addictive. Just being able to write every day, making friends with other writers and book bloggers who are as passionate about reading as I am and sharing these stories with you has made me the happiest girl in the world.

So after a long wait, I can finally shout from the rooftops that all this hard work has paid off and very very soon you will get to read my words, in a book. I just need to take a second and re-read that sentence. Yep, it’s still true. Pinch me.

The three romantic comedy novels form the ‘Lonely Hearts Travel Club’ series, with each book based in an exotic far flung country (of course I had to get travel tied up in there somewhere!) Destination: Thailand, Destination: India and Destination: Chile follow the adventures of heartbroken and newbie backpacker Georgia Green trying to go from lost to wanderlust when it feels like everything is against her.

Even more excitingly and slightly overwhelming, is the fact that from TODAY you can pre-order all three of my novels from Amazon. Just click on the links below to get your order in. Gulp. Shit just got real.
